But now, Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock films have planned the ultimate timeline for the Universe!

Horror Comedy Universe To Bring 8 Films!

The production house has announced the upcoming slate of this massive Universe with 8 upcoming films, including Stree 3, Bhediya 2, Maha Munjya, and 5 other films!

These 8 films include three new worlds – Chamunda, Shakti Shalini, and Thama along with the 3 existing worlds – Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya! These six worlds will come together for an epic battle of two films concluding the Horror Comedy Superhero Universe.

2025 – 2028 – Horror Comedy Timeline

The eight horror-comedy films will arrive between 2025 to 2028. Starting from Thama on Diwali 2025 and Shakti Shalini on December 31, 2025. This will be followed by Bhediya 2 on August 14, 2026, and Chamunda on December 4, 2026.

The year 2027 will arrive with the next set of horror comedies – Stree 2 on August 14 and Maha Munjya on December 24. Finally, the horror comedy Universe will conclude with an epic battle of two parts – Pehla Mahayudh on August 11, 2028, and Doosra Mahayudh on October 18, 2028.

The Starcast

While the Stree world includes Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurrana, the Bhediya world includes Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, and Deepak Dobriyal. Thama will bring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna to this Universe, and Chamunda is expected to bring Alia Bhatt to this Universe. Munjya includes Abhay Verma and Sharvari. The Starcast and the theme for Shakti Shalini are yet not known.

Themes

The films, as per the tradition of the horror-comedy Superhero Universe, will bring more horror folklore, blending them with situational comedies that would tickle your bones. While Stree 3 would take forward the story behind Sarkata, Bhediya 2 would further solve the mystery of the shape-shifting Bhediya portrayed by Varun Dhawan, a glimpse of which has been offered in Stree 2, already. The best part of this Universe would definitely be the Avengers-style Mahayudh, which would bring all the horror-comedy superheroes together. And who knows, we might finally know who Stree is!

As per the data by Netflix from December 23 to December 29, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 garnered a viewership of 3.7 million on Netflix against 9.8 million viewing hours and secured 2nd spot in the globally trending list of top 10 non-English films on Netflix.

She recalled, “For Shool, I had to (fight). E Nivas (Eeshwar Nivas), the director of the film, was absolutely convinced. If you see Shool, there’s Manoj Bajpayee and me. I am Manjiri, playing a lower middle-class Bihari housewife with that orange sindoor and everything. Ramu was the producer, Ram Gopal Varma.”

She added, “I requested him to give it a shot. Even E Niwas was convinced this is my Manjiri. Cut to, we are shooting. We did all the publicity shoot before the film’s shoot. I got out of my make up room, was walking to the corridor. I am in that look (Manjiri). Ramu was coming from the front. I looked at him and said, ‘Ramu, how are you doing? We were waiting for you. But we have already started.” Raveena also said, “I was like, he really doesn’t want me on this film. But I still went to shoot and was doing my thing. Suddenly after, 5-7 minutes later I hear him go, ‘Oh my god! Raveena, that was you?’ And I said, ‘I rest my case.'”

Raveena Tandon concluded, “That is something I had to convince him to let me do because I was looking for that breakthrough. I was done with doing the kind of stuff I was already doing.”

Raveena Tandon has Welcome to the Jungle in the pipeline and is currently under production. She was last seen in the Disney+Hotstar drama thriller Karmma Calling.

It was directed by Shekhar Kapur, and the story and screenplay were written by the duo Salim-Javed. That movie was Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar’s last collaboration before their split. Laxmikant Pyarelal composed the soundtrack, and it is still fantastic.

According to the Indian Express, Boney Kapoor was advised against taking Anil Kapoor opposite Sridevi in Judaai. This was similar to when Anil was warned against working in Mr India, as people suggested that Boney would only highlight Sridevi in the 1987 classic. In an interview with The Times of India, Boney Kapoor revealed that people predicted Judaai to be a flop as they would not be able to accept Sridevi romancing Anil Kapoor as the former was married to the latter’s brother. According to them, the audience wasn’t willing to watch the duo as a romantic pair. Recalling the similar gossip during Mr India, the producer said, “I had faith in the project, and I told Anil that you will be remembered as Mr. India till your last breath.”

Boney Kapoor spoke about it in a recent interview, when he opened up about the challenges he faced in his career. He said, “I’ve been through various challenges. Meri pichli kai filmon mein mujhe tarah-tarah ke challenges face kiye jaise Mr India, No Entry, Wanted, Judaai.” He continued [via Ary News], “During Judaai, there was a different challenge. My wife [Sridevi] was pregnant, and Anil [Kapoor] was the hero. Logo ne kaha picture kaise chalegi, bhabhi ke saath pair kiya hai .”

Judaai was a huge commercial success and one of the highest-grossing films of 1997. It also featured Urmila Matondkar in the leading role. Kader Khan, Farida Jalal, Johnny Lever, Paresh Rawal, Upasana Singh, and Saeed Jaffrey also featured in supporting roles.

Anupam Kher was not at all convinced to play Dr. Manmohan Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister for one major reason – the Congress leader was an active personality. People knew him first hand, not through some story or book. So, it was practically impossible to walk into a living person’s shoe.

So Anupam Kher initially rejected the film. In an interview with NDTV in 2018, the actor recalled what pushed him to change his mind. He said, “One day, I saw Dr Manmohan Singh walking from one place to another on the television. So, the actor inside me asked me if I could walk like him. But I was a disaster. That challenged me. I rehearsed his walk for 45 minutes, but I couldn’t get it right, so I called the makers for the narration of the script, and I was very fascinated by it.”

He further narrated what prompted him to say Yes and recalled, “I feel everything is difficult about Dr Manmohan Singh. He has a very monotonous voice, and yet there have to be variations. Then, I said yes to the makers of the film.”

The Accidental Prime Minister Box Office

The film was released on January 11, 2019. Mounted on a budget of 25 crore, it earned 25 crore at the box office. Helmed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte it starred Akshaye Khanna along with Anupam Kher. The film is streaming on Zee 5.

Dr. Manmohan Singh was the architect of India’s Economic Reforms. May his soul rest in peace, and we hope that history will now indeed be kinder to him.

According to Indian Express, Saira Banu shared a picture of Sanjay with her late husband, Dilip Kumar, to share the adorable story of when Dutt wanted to marry her. She wrote on her IG story, “@duttsanjay has always been like a family to me. My entire family, starting from Ammaji to Aapaji, to Sahib, and to me, we’ve watched him grow from a tiny toddler into the remarkable person he is today.”

She continued, “I still remember when Nargis Aapa would come to our house for functions, and he would accompany her – this cute, good-looking kid…Nargis Ji would then shake his hands and say, ‘Chalo, Saira Ji ko bolo tum kya bolte ho mujhe? (Tell Saira ji, what you keep telling me)’. And then Sanju would look at me and say, ‘Main Shaila Banu se shaadi karunga’ (I’ll marry Saira Banu) in a cute little voice. Hahahah, so adorable! I believe Sharmila Tagore and I were the top favorites of Sanju.”

She shared the story on Sanjay Dutt’s birthday and concluded her note with, “Many hands make light work’. And we’ve all cherished being part of his journey. He holds a special place in my heart. With all my love and blessings, I wish him a very happy birthday.”

Hema Malini’s father was also against her relationship with Dharmendra and, in his own way, tried to keep them apart. According to Bollywood Shaadis’ report, Hema, on the sets of Indian Idol 12, shared an interesting incident when her father accompanied her to shoot a song to prevent his daughter and Dharmendra from spending alone time.

The actress recalled, “Usually my mother or my aunt used to accompany me on shoots but during the shoot of one of the songs my father accompanied me as he was worried that me and Dharam ji shouldn’t spend some time alone as he knew we were friends.”

She continued, “I remember this when we used to travel in a car my father used to immediately sit next to me but even Dharam ji was no less he used to sit at the next seat.”

In a throwback interview with Deccan Chronicle, Hema Malini shared, “The minute I saw Dharam ji, I knew he was the man for me. I wanted to spend my life with him. I also wanted to make sure that the marriage hurt nobody. His first wife and children have never felt my intrusion in their lives. I married him, but I never took him away from his first family.”

Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s love story is still regarded as one of the biggest examples of an evergreen romance that turned real from reel. They stood the test of time and still inspire young lovers to endure. Hema and Dharmendra got married in 1980 and welcomed Esha in 1981. In 1985, Ahana was born.

Aamir Khan, in the conversation with NDTV, responded, “All of us are working hard, I’m working hard, and so is the light-boy. Why is he paid differently than me? It’s not because he’s a man or a woman, you are confusing the issue there. If I’m paid Rs 10, it is because I can bring back that money and more. If Rani (sitting next to him) can fill in more seats than I can, 101 per cent, she will be paid more than me. The market forces and makes sure that she gets paid more than I do.”

Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor Khan agreed with their co-star and said it was the only logical reason they could think of. Aamir Khan concluded, “It has nothing to do with your sex as a female or a male. It is your ability to pull people in. Cinema is one field where corruption doesn’t work. I cannot bribe people and say, ‘come, see my film.'”

Directed by the late Ravi Chopra, the film featured an impressive cast, including Govinda, Tabu, Lara Dutta, Boman Irani, and Rajpal Yadav. Shot in 2008, this comedy-drama generated significant buzz due to its star-studded lineup and Chopra’s reputation for delivering hits.

However, despite being nearly completed, Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai never saw the light of day. The film’s shelving was not due to production delays or creative differences but a legal battle that derailed its release. American filmmakers legally sued the film for copyright infringement. Despite a settlement, the movie was never released.

Makers Of My Cousin Vinny (1992) Sued Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai For Plagiarism

The primary reason for the film’s indefinite shelving was a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by 20th Century Fox (now part of Disney). According to the Hollywood studio, Govinda-starrer Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai was a direct, unauthorized remake of their 1992 hit comedy My Cousin Vinny. As per ETimes, this was the first time any Hollywood makers took Indian makers to court for the remaking of a film.

Ravi Chopra’s BR Films reportedly did not secure the rights to adapt the story, leading 20th Century Fox to take legal action. The lawsuit alleged that Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai copied significant elements of My Cousin Vinny, including its plot, character arcs, and comedic situations. In the suit, Fox agreed that they had allowed Chopra “to make a film loosely based on the Oscar-winning movie.” However, they believed the final movie was a “substantial reproduction” of My Cousin Vinny.

Fox asked for $1.4 million in damages, as per The Indian Express, and the producers eventually settled with a payment of $200K. Despite this settlement, the movie was still never released in theaters. Unfortunately, the director, Ravi Chopra, passed away in 2014, and efforts were not made to release this movie then. With the advent of OTT films in India, it is yet to be seen whether Govinda‘s Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai will ever see the light of the day.

In a throwback interview with a publication, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan rubbished the rumors of her secret wedding with Salman Khan. The Ponniyin Selvan actress stressed that she would never hide a thing like marriage from the public glare. She was quoted to reveal, “Wouldn’t the entire industry be aware of it if it had happened? The industry is such a small place. Besides, I’ve not even had the time to spend with my family after my mom’s accident. I’m not the sort of person to deny something as major as marriage. I’d proudly announce my marriage to the world if it had happened. Also, where is the time to marry? All this is simply ridiculous.”

Neha Dhupia On Shifting Gears In Her Profession

Talking about playing a strong supporting character in the film and taking the other road confidently, Neha Dhupia discussed why she chose to shift gears at the right time and further said, “Obviously, if you get main lead roles and things like that, you want that, but was I getting those many main lead roles? No, because I’d already, like, you know, I’ve been working for almost over two decades now. So, I’ve been around for 20, 21 years. So, my whole point is that, you know, you’ve got to be really, really, you know, if that was the case, I would be, like, on superstar kind of stature. But I’m not. But the one thing that I’m extremely proud of is the journey I’ve had, the hustle I always will have, no matter what, the voice I have, and the person I choose to be. So, if I look at the sum total of all of that, the choices from main lead to supporting have been interesting. They’ve been diverse. They’ve been a great experience. Most importantly, they’ve been a very big experiment in my life creatively.

Neha Dhupia’s Pehli Kamai

When asked about her first salary, the actress proudly recalled working for a 2-day job at an exhibition. She took a trip down memory lane and narrated her first job, making it sound as important as any other job. “Of course, I remember my pehli kamai. I was working on an exhibition, and I got 500 rupees a day. And I got a two-day job, and I had 1000 bucks when I was, I think, in college. And I had; I felt like this 1000 rupees was so much because I ended up buying gifts for my brother and mom, my dad, and my grandmom. We went for, like, I think it was chana bhatura, which is like 10 or 20 bucks a plate because in Delhi, that was like the great meal you have. Still, I felt like the 1000 bucks were a lot. Then I had, like, I think, 150 bucks left. I deposited that in the bank. So, at that time, 1000 bucks felt like, oh my God, you have so much money.”

Are Surgeries & Going Under The Knife Essential?

Neha Dhupia was a successful model and Miss India in 2002, so who better than a celebrated supermodel to discuss the good and the bad of the much-discussed surgery and the ever going debate around them? The actress honestly answers, “For the ones who’ve done it, and for the ones who choose to do it, I’d have to let it be their choice. I can only answer it from my end. Will I do it? No, never.”

But taking the discussion further, the Bad Newz actress felt it was important to let a 20-year-old girl understand that giving in and succumbing to the pressure might not be the correct way. She even discussed the issue since a lot of actresses have chose to reveal that they were asked to go under the knife during their struggling days. She explains, “Was I in self-doubt in my 20s? About my physicality? I must have been. Did I let that moment of pressure pass? Yes. My mind took over, and I realized that, you know, the pressure, the temptation of an offer to think from someone else’s mind, the concept of beauty, all of that is how you define yourself. I may have had the bandwidth, the intelligence, the approach, the attitude to look at it differently. Some people don’t.”

She even brutally yet very importantly points out the casual blaming and says, “To go under a knife, to have surgical changes done to yourself, I mean, anything, to like inject things in your face because people have asked you to do those. I don’t know; please change the medical terminologies the way you need to and make it sound correct. Also, those are the choices that people make. But then, in hindsight, to blame someone else for the choices is not okay because, at that point, you had the power to overcome the temptation of the professional offer as well, right?”

Neha Dhupia Roots For Body Positivity

The actress further discussed her journey as a mother and how her body changed during that time. She said, “I embrace everything that is God gifted, is natural, is the way I am. I’ve seen my body change. I was 23 kilos out when I gave birth. I lost 23 kilos. Looking at this reel that I put up, which is the film, and I’m like, I look so different now. But it doesn’t matter. That was the phase of my life that I was in. Am I going to embrace it? Of course I am. Is it the most beautiful thing? Of course. I mean, look at my son now. He’s as cute as a button. Do I regret putting on that much weight because I was giving birth to him? No, but that’s the person I am.”

Neha Dhupia further emphasized on the importance of self-worth and working endlessly to meet your goals and said, “Am I happy? Do I seek or derive pleasure out of losing the 20 kilos, taking my time, showing up at the gym every day, not going through anything wrong or any kind of oral medication to lose weight, or going under the knife? I did none of that. I’m very proud of it. But am I judging people who are doing it? No, I’m not, because I don’t have time to judge more than anything else, nor do I have the bandwidth.”

Will Neha Dhupia Go Under The Knife?

The actress while discussing about surgeries and how they might make a young teenager feel about her looks clearly asserted, “I can scream from a rooftop and say, no, I will never do surgeries. I will never ponder in life. I will never do anything which changes the way I look. And I will always embrace the person I am. I’m very confident in my skin.”

Reaching out to every young girl out there, the actress was more than happy to share her personal journey and suggested they have patience and give time to themselves. The mother of two said, “I want every young girl to share that you’re beautiful just the way you are. I want every young girl, who’s probably sitting somewhere at the end of her teenage years or in her early twenties, who’s under pressure to look a certain way, to perform a certain way, to give it time. You have the magic in you. Let it all shine through. You don’t have to use any sort of crutch in your life, especially an artificial one or even a professional one, to show them that you’re better. You just have to believe in yourself. I promise you that’s all you need. And believe me, this is such a strong emotion because once you believe in yourself, nobody can take that away from you.”

Neha Dhupia’s Biggest Takeaway From A 21 Year Old Career

Talking about her biggest accomplishments and learnings from an illustrious career in the industry, the actress said, “My biggest takeaway is that you’ve got to move ahead with the times. You’ve got to work when you’re younger. You’ve got to stay relevant. You have to make smart choices. And I feel you can’t be in your own bubble. You have to have a huge reality check. You are where you stand. And, you know, how easily replaceable you are. So, you know, these are the little things. And also not too seriously. Believe it or not.”

She continued, “You have to take yourself a little less seriously or take yourself a little lightly so that you can have a laugh at yourself as well. The day you start learning from your failures as much as you enjoy your success, that’s when you find the right balance in this business at least. Because it’s so like, you know, within the same week, there are actors who see success and fail on the same Friday as well.”

Neha Dhupia’s Regrets

The actress admits she has none. “So when I look back, I feel like what would happen at the right time, maybe slightly later. But for me, that was the right time. And I don’t know, a couple of projects that I probably said no to end up becoming a very big success. And maybe I should have done that. But if I hadn’t done that (rejecting the offers), then I wouldn’t have done other stuff. I wouldn’t have done OTT, or I wouldn’t have diverted into having my own podcast or going on a reality show. But those are also life learnings and experiences.”

It was during the shoot of Kites by Anurag Basu. The filmmaker reportedly shared the incident and recalled how Hrithik Roshan smacked his co-star Bárbara Mori on the cheeks, turning the tables on her when she planned a prank on him. Basu recalled, “We were doing an intense scene which had a long dialogue. Towards the end, Barbara was supposed to slap Hrithik. We okayed the scene.” He continued, “But Barbara asked me if it was possible to do a retake, because she wanted to slap Hrithik again. It was a prank, but I decided to play along. Duggu was very surprised when I told him we’d do the scene again because I’d already told him the earlier take was fine.”

Anurag Basu continued and revealed that Hrithik Roshan already saw through the ruse. The Kites director then added, “Barbara was shocked because just as she was about to slap him, Duggu ducked and slapped her instead. Then she realized that Hrithik had seen through her prank, and everyone on the sets burst out laughing.”

On the professional front, Hrithik Roshan was last seen in Fighter alongside Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor. It was released earlier this year and was a box-office success. It is streaming on Netflix.

In a video shared by a fan, it was seen that Karan is quizzing Anushka and Katrina about Shah Rukh Khan (who was also their co-star in the film). He asked them to identify the lyrics from one of his famous songs. Katrina answered it correctly.

As the actresses got engaged in a fun challenge, when Karan asked another question, Anushka started singing before Katrina could answer. Katrina Kaif criticised, “Mauka nahi mila,” to which Anushka Sharma responded, “Maine mara mauke pe chauka”.
