When Koimoi asked Soundarya Sharma about fashion at Cannes 2023, the Bigg Boss 16 contestant replied, “I think A – First of all, the Cannes Film Festival is about films. So it should be more spoken about for films than the fashion choices. B – Being in this business, we have to have our fashion game on point, irrespective of whether it’s a Cannes Film Festival or any in India or anywhere else. Having said that, as an actor, if any platform is given to you, then definitely, why not make the most of it?”

She continued, “And being in showbiz, I think it’s very important how you come across, how you keep up your game and your fitness levels and your ever thing because that’s what matters the most.”

Recently, The Kashmir Files maker Vivek Agnihotri also took a sarcastic dig at Bollywood’s fashion at the Cannes Film Festival. After commenting on the ‘costume slaves’ at the festival with an image of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on the red carpet, he tweeted, “Do you know that Cannes Film Festival is about films? I thought I should remind you just in case you were thinking it’s a fashion show.”

Abhi humme court ke taraf se… Nawaz ko bola gaya hain ki aap mutually decide karke resolve karle aur ek dusre ke saath baith ke baath karle… joh bhi karna hai saath mein mutually kariye. Aaliya Siddiqui continued, “Dhekho publically mujhe isliye aana pada kyuki bahut waqt se yeh ghaav tha, you known andar hi andar problems kar raha tha.” Adding that any problem kept inside will burst one day, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s estranged wife added in Hindi, “I’m feeling nice it happened. I’m not sad or upset that I spoke up about it. I’m upset that our kids are suffering. When the kids suffer like this then its imperative to speak about it publically. Things were getting too much.”

She added, “Main bus itna hi kahungi ki yeh cheez jaldi se jaldi khatam ho jaye aur mere bacche… (before being interrupted by her kids who wanted to head down for breakfast in the hotel they are staying at).” After the minor interruption, Aaliya said in Hindi, “At times it’s important to speak about these things publically cause otherwise people will never know what you are going through.”

Talking about the support – or the lack of it, she received from the industry, Aaliya Siddiqui said, “People know the industry only respects the rising sun (aka someone who is established/has contacts). So if they speak in favour of or support me, it makes no difference to me. It hurts when those close to you are the cause of your troubles. Then you can’t even point fingers. I have no expectations from anyone cause what I have to do – bringing up my kids, taking care of them, fighting my battles and more, I have to do myself. So I’m not dependent on anyone for help or support.”

Adding that she has no right to be angry at anyone for not supporting her during her battle with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Aaliya Siddiqui said, “They are right in their place. This is a professional setting. People in the industry will get benefits from being in Nawaz’s good books, who is Aaliya Siddiqui? Aaliya is only Nawaz’s wife; she hasn’t made for herself still. So who will know her? Aaliya is not some big producer like Karan Johar for them to stand behind her. I know these things, so I’m not hurt.”

The film revolves around a gangster from Kolkata from the 70s to the mid-90s and his journey from rags to riches – something netizens find similar to Yash-led KGF.

During an exclusive chat with Koimoi, the actor – who is known as the King of Bengali Cinema, opened up about the similarities and stated whether or not they are the same. Read on

Commenting on whether his character in Chengiz is similar to that of Yash’s Rocky from the Kannada blockbuster KGF, Jeet said, “Rags to riches, yeh joh genre hai yeh genre saalo se chalta aaya hai. Jab se filme bante hai tab se lagbak yeh chalta aa raha hai. Toh isliye genre ko leke koi baat nahi.”

Commenting on netizens drawing comparisons between Yash’s Rocky and his Chengiz, Jeet continued, “Trailer ke pehle lag raha tha kuch kuch logo ko ki haa yeh kissi film se milta-julta hai, par trailer aane ke baad aise reactions nahi mila hai zyada ya yeh kissi se milte julta hai. Teaser ke baad trailer mein reactions about bane, inspirations aur look-a-likes of any (level), woh kam ho gaya hai kafi trailer mein. Aur film aate aate yeh bilkul gayab hi ho jayega”

Commenting on people who will still compare Chengiz to Yash’s KGF, Jeet said, “Unse yehi kahenge ki positivity share kare, humme support kare, humme pyaar dijiye aur hum aapko nirash nahi karenge. Film mein yeh baat bilkul gayab ho jayegi ki yeh kissi milti julti hai. Yeh apne aap mein ek independent story hai aur apne tarike meion batayi gayi hai.”

When asked if the reason netizens tend not to tag her as a nepo kid – as much as they do other stars, is the absence of Bedi from her name and her just going as Alaya F, the U Turn actress said, “That’s not the reason at all. People firstly do mention, relate it (me being a product of nepotism) it’s like they don’t. They do (but) they don’t do it to a very, very large extent. But they still do.” She continued, “I have privilege, I take responsibility for that privilege, I take note of that privilege, I understand that things are easier for me, have been easier for me in a lot of ways. But they have also not been easy in a lot of ways.”

Alaya F added, “People forget to realize that there are many stages and levels also of how much access your nepotism can give you. My nepotism got me a certain amount of access, but it never got me a film. But access is also so important – by default, it’s the most important thing. Which is why, no matter what it is I can never discount that privilege. Cause getting into those rooms is the hardest bit. Once you’re in the rooms the rest is your lookout.”

She continued, “If I keep bothering myself with realizing my privileges or disregarding my privelege or all these 800 conversations we keep having, I feel like it’s an endless loop we’ll get stuck in. Nothing has changed about the way I was raised or where I was raised or whom I was raised by – that’s not going to change, we can have many conversations about it. What can change is the work I do, the amount of work I choose to put in or not put in, all these things are variable. So I try and make the most of these things, which are things I can actually do something about and can do the most of. The day I don’t do that is the day that I would feel very let down by myself. Then I would feel like I took things lightly. I don’t see myself doing. I’m very grateful for this opportunity and these wonderful circumstances that I’m in. And I promise to make the most of them and I hope it become clearer and clearer with every film I do.”

Talking about having names like ‘Bedi’ and ‘Furniturewala’ backing, Alaya F said, “I suppose those names will always be there, and I’m proud to have those names. It’s not that I kept my name Alaya F because I want to run away from privilege. My last name is ‘Furniturewala’. It makes for a very long name… I’ve always gone by ‘F’ it’s just been the way. There wasn’t a real thought to it to separate me from my…it wasn’t that.” She added, “I’ll never say that I’ve not had the privilege or I’ve tried not to use it because it gets used without me even trying. But I’ve actively tried to make my own choices.

While chatting with Radhika Apte, we asked her if she had ever thought about getting surgeries, given the things people said to her at the start of her career. The actress answered this question by saying, “No, I didn’t, I didn’t.” She continued, “I am very happy with who I am and how I am. I’ll never get under the knife.”

On being asked if people are still likely to comment on her body and needing to get ‘improvement’ surgeries, Radhika said, “People will keep commenting… but nobody anymore does (it to me). (Yeh) bahut pehli wali baat hai.”

Talking about whether the film industry has progressed from prioritizing an artiste’s body image over their talent, Radhika Apte said, “I think there’s definitely a change. And now women and men of different body shapes and looks – conventionally different looking people are getting prominent parts and… Thank God for that. It’s changing, but it’s equally you have a lot of plastic surgeries… it’s a mixture of the two I think.”

On being further asked if he’s scared of the upcoming clash between Chengiz and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan – especially given the number of fans Salman Khan has, Jeet said, “Darr… darr ki baat nahi. Hum apne product ke upar vishwas rakte hai, iska matlab yeh nahi ki hum samne wale ya kissi se bhi daare” (Fear… we aren’t afraid. We trust our project to do well but that doesn’t mean we are scared).”

Jeet- known as the King of Bengali Cinema, further added, “Darne ki baat nahi hai, lekin… comeptition Salman bhai se kaise hoga? Woh itne bade… mega star hai woh. Nation ne unko itne salo se itna pyaar diya, hum sab unko pasand karte hai (It’s not about being scared, but we can’t compete with Salman, He’s a mega stars who has been loved by many for years. On us telling him that Emraan Hashmi used to gift his wife, Parveen Shahani bag every time he did a kissing scene in a film and asking if he’s done something similar, Krushna Abhishek replied, “Credit card hi diya hua tha 3 mahine ke liye jab tak main iski shoot kar raha tha.”

Regarding the drama and news that keep making the headlines regarding him and Govinda, Krushna said, “It’s family. I love him.” He continued, “Joh bhi controversies aati hai main zyada dekhta nahi cause uske peeche there is a lot of love. If meri mami mujhe pe gussa hai – I think that is a lot of love. Agar woh mujhpe angry hain kissi baat se, gussa karte hai mujhpe toh it’s a lot of love. Aur agar main naraz hoke kuch kehta hoon – that is love. So it’s all a family matter. It’s all love.”

Getting emotional, the ‘Main Hoon Na’ actress replied, “Nahi, nahi, nahi. Dil toot gaya yaar. Koi pyaar-vyaar nahi hoga ab, na shaadi.” Getting teary, Rakhi continued, “Nahi, nahi, nahi chahiye koi shaadi, koi pyaar. Nahi chahiye. Kuch bhi nahi chhaiye. Kuch bhi nahi chhaiye mujhe, bus mera kaam karungi bus.”

When asked if this money was meant for her mother’s treatment, the actress said that when she entered the Bigg Boss Marathi house, her mother was well, but she still left Rs 10 lakh with Adil in case of any medical emergency. Recall when her family tried calling her estranged husband when her mother fell and was paralysed; the actress revealed that she would have survived had he paid the money for her treatment. She said, “Bach jati. Aaj bach jati meri maa. Aaj meri maa bach jati agar time pe ilaaj hua hota toh.”

Adding that her family told her Adil Khan Durrani ghosted them during the difficult time, Rakhi Sawant broke down, saying, “Strong… thi main. Abhi nahi hu. Roz hi roti hu. Mere pita pehle hi heart attack mein mar gaye. Meri maa chali gayi. Answering us, the ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai’ actor said, “Television pe content bahut important hai, scriptwriters ki bahut, bahut badi bhumika hai. Writers medium hai basically (yeh). Writers agar aacha likhte hai tabhi toh hum… humare kirdar fix hai hum kaise karenge yeh humme pata hai. Lekin agar aachi writing aati hai toh char chand laga deti hai.”

On further being probed if this means actors are replaceable, Rohitash Gaud said, “Actors replaceable hote bhi hai and nahi bhi hote hai… Aisa nahi ki har koi ho jata hai. ” The ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai’ actor – talking about actor being replaced, added, “Yeh badi kathin cheez hoti hai. Kyuki audience ke dimaag mein woh kirdar chap jate hai. Lambe samey ke liye rehta hai toh zyada chap jaata hai. Uska asar toh padta hai – isme koi shaq nahi hai.”

During the same interview, we asked Rohitash Gaud if he plans on featuring in Bollywood films while continuing to play Manmohan Tiwari in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai. The actor responded by saying, “Yeh toh bada kathin sawaal hai . Jab tak yeh chal raha hai toh tab tak yeh naturally main koi aur decision nahi le sakta kyuki hum ek exclusivity mein bhi hai. Aur waise bhi hum 25-30 din vyast hai… Lekin iske baad definitely koshish toh rahegi.”

Talking about working with Salman Khan in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Aasif Sheikh said, “Working with him is nothing new for me. Main aaj 20-22 saal se, 25 saal se unke saath main filme kar raha hu unke. Toh kabhi bhi aisa koi interesting role hota hai toh woh hamesha mujhe approach karte hai. Aur yeh toh unke banner ka film hai.” The ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai’ actor continued, “Main bada khushi khushi, bahut willingly, bahut shauq se unke filme karta hu because it’s a lot of fun to work with Salman. Aur meri umeed hai aur main dua karta hu ki Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan should be another blockbuster like Pathaan.”

In the same conversation, we asked Aasif Sheikh how he juggled his TV and film career. For those who don’t know why Aasif continues to play Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai for eight years now, he has also starred in Bollywood films like Aman Ke Farishtey (2016), Bharat (2019) and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023). Answering us, the ‘Yes Boss’ actor said, “Main bahut filme nahi karta – main saal mein 1-2 filme karta hu. My producer is very cooperative; she manages the dates because she knows ki agar yeh nahi karega toh growth nahi hogi as an actor. Toh hamesha support kari hai woh mujhe – this is Benaifer Kohli. Hamesha supports karti hai, hamesha encourage karti hai ki agar main kuch acha kaam kar raha hu toh they let me do that.”

When asked if she thinks she has been approached for Lock Upp 2 only owing to the controversies in her life and her potential to gain TRPs, Rakhi Sawant responded, “Khuda ka blessing hai mere pe. Mera janta ka blessing hai mere pe ki main jaha bhi kahi, kuch bhi karu TRP toh ayegi hi. Kyuki janta mujhe dekhna pasand karegi. Kyuki main ekdum real hu. Real life mein bhi real hu. It was this weekend that Hamid Barkzi and Soundous Moufakir defeated Defeated Justin- Sakshi S and Kashish-Akashlina to be crowned the winners of MTV Splitsvilla X4. Post winning the much-loved show, Soundous a French-Moroccan Model – who has also been part of MTV Roadies recently met us and spoke to us at length about the show, her journey there, and much more.

During our recent exclusive interaction with the Splitsvilla 14 winner, we asked the French-Moroccan beauty about the show’s mischief-maker Uorfi Javed, and what she thinks of her and her fashion sense. We also asked her her views regarding whether Uorfi’s fashion would pass in France or be looked down upon. Read on to know her response.

Sharing with us her thoughts about Uorfi Javed, Splitsvilla X4’s Soundous Moufakir said, “Okay. I think MTV has done a fabulous and very clever job by taking her as a mischievous maker because I don’t think that nobody else could have done it as well as she has done it. She is so smart, so clever, so much mastermind. She rolled the villa in such a short period of time, you know. Even as a host, when she was revealed as a mischief-maker and she came later to the show to host a couple of tasks… She like did it so well. She nailed it. So for me, it’s 10 or 10 of her being a mischief maker.”

Talking about Uorfi Javed’s fashion sense, Soundous Moufakir continued, “Judging her fashion sense… I feel that fashion sense is just like religion is something very personal. People should like not point fingers and be like this is bad, this is good, but can like it or not like it. For me, I feel that what she is doing is something that outstands from what all people do.” The Splitsvilla X4 winner added, “And especially in India, which is like a developing country, you know, where there is a lot of taboos about how you dress, how you look, you need to put on more clothes… Especially that there are a lot of religions, lots of cultures.”

She continued, “So she’s breaking that stereotype and for that, you need to be confident you need to be bold you need to be ready for the negative comments and this is what she is taking. So yeah, you’re doing a good job.”

On being asked if she feel Uorfi Javed wouldn’t have had to face so much scrutiny had she shown this fashion sense in France, Soundous Moufakir replied, “Oh, that’s, um… That’s a very smart question.” She then said, “So maybe she wouldn’t… maybe she would have been more accepted for the kind of clothes she was dressing, but she would have maybe faced other problems that she’s not facing in India. So each environment towards you (are) different you know, difficulties that you have to deal with.” “It’s not because it’s France, it’s gonna be easy. You know, I’ve been in friends and I live there and it has its own struggles,” said the Splitsvilla X4 winner.

Pathaan’s Besharam Rang has been trending in the music charts for weeks now and is being loved by many despite the severe backlash it received. Featuring an extremely s*xy Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan, the song has been sung by Shilpa Rao, Caralisa Monteiro, Vishal and Sheykhar. And we recently caught up with Rao to talk about it and lots more.

During an exclusive chat with Shilpa recently, we asked the singer if she will be lending her voice to any tracks in Tiger 3 given that she had been part of the other YRF Spy universe film Pathaan and War. For those who don’t know, Shilpa has sung Ghungroo from War and Besharam Rang in Pathaan. Read on to know her answer and whether or not she will be part of it.

Answering our question about being part of YRF’s Tiger 3 and potentially lending her voice to Katrina Kaif’s character, Shilpa Rao said, “If I let out the beans then I’m not a good spy. (Laugh) I should not, I should not. But the thing is that, ya we are working. And there’s a lot of work with Pritam and a lot of work with Vishal-Shekhar and I’m hoping that you guys love it.”

On further pressing for a more definite answer, Shilpa Rao added, “I would love to, I would love to be a part of (all the movies) in the spy universe. I’m loving that we finally have a franchise like that. We had Dhoom, and now we have this – it’s going to be fun man.” She further added that it was “cool” to be part of the Dhoom franchise as she had a chance to sing Malang in Dhoom 3.

Talking about potentially lending her voice to Katrina Kaif – if she does happen to have a song in Tiger 3, Shilpa Rao said, “I’ve done a lot of work (together). We’ve done Meherbaan (Bang Bang), we’ve done Ishq Shava (Jab Tak Hai Jaan), Malang (Dhoom 3)… there’s been a lot. She’s fabulous, she’s fabulous.”

The Bigg Boss 16 finale is just hours away and tonight we see either Shiv Thakare, Shalin Bhanot, MC Stan, Archana Gautam or Priyanka Chahar Choudhary lift the trophy. One contestant who missed making it to the finale by just a few days was the season’s first finalist Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia. The actress got evicted mid-week and we recently met up with her.

While exclusively chatting with Nimrit a few days ago, we asked her about the show’s three hosts – Salman Khan, Karan Johar and Farah Khan and who she likes the most of them. For those who don’t know, while Salman hosted the majority of the season – and will be seen on the Bigg Boss 16 stage tonight, Karan and Farah stepped in for a couple of weeks during the show’s extended time.

Answering us, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia said, “Mere ko toh teeno pasand hai, how can you choose man. Sabke aura aur personality bahut alaga hai, genuinely . I feel like Salman Khan sir ki… arey yaar he’s Salman Sir… you can’t. I’m not kidding, Weekend Ke Vaar pe aisa hota tha ki I really wanted to hide somewhere and aise (crossing her fingers and arms) fingers crossed hoti thi ki bus aaj sir se daant na pade.”

Further talking about the Bigg Boss 16 hosts, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia added, “With Karan Johar sir, the vibe was always he’s so sassy, and he’s so witty. It would be such a great time. With Farah Khan ma’am, she’s such a warm person. So har insaan ke energies obviously bahut alag hai, but I loved the fact ki iss season mein humme ek ki jagah teeno hosts ke saath shoot karne ka mauka mila.”
